Planning permission has now been obtained to refurbish the toilets and add decking to the visitor centre, extend and add a shelter to the Discovery Area and replace the hide overlooking Ferry Pool.
The start date for the contractor on site is May 10th, with an estimated completion date of 16 June. The Visitor Centre will be open for business throughout, with temporary toilets in the car park. There might be the odd time that the visitor centre will be without power or water, but these will be temporary interruptions and RSPB staff will endeavour to anticipate when these might be and have flasks of hot water prepared for teas and coffees.
Work on improvements to the Discovery Area are due to commence in June, and the rebuilding of Ferry Hide is scheduled for September/October.
Further details, including plans, are available at the Visitor Centre.
