The Medmerry beach clean took place on Saturday 10 March 2018.

The weather was poor with intermittent showers but nonetheless fourteen volunteers filled 19 sacks with rubbish as well as retrieving 2 large plastic canisters. Much of the rubbish was small pieces of plastic wrappings and bottle tops. Larger items such as plastic bottles and canisters had blown inland into the marshy areas of Medmerry and there was some enthusiasm for a future litter pick to retrieve these items.

The Actoivity Shelter in the Discovery Area is complete. Huge thanks to the 50 people who 'Bought A Plank' and raised over £7,000 towards the cost. Their donations will be acknowledged inside the shelter. It will be open to the public once the surrounding footpaths have been re-instated.

Work on our new Discovery Zone and Ferry Hide (see latest photo) is moving along at pace.

RSPB Roy is looking for someone with carpentry skills to make some bespoke housing for ‘sleeping wardens’ in the new hide. No, a ‘sleeping warden’ is not RSPB staff having a quick snooze! They are the identification panels of what might be seen. Panels can be sorted but someone is needed to make the housings which can be opened to change the panels with each season.

The new Activity Shelter in the Discovery Area is nearing completion. 47 people have made contributions amounting to £7,000 so far.

Work on the new Ferry Hide is due to commence next week, followed by the Activity Shelter in the Discovery Area- 'Have you Bought a Plank' yet?  32 people have raising over £1000 towards the cost of the shelter.
